Aston Martin Virage 6.3 Widebody Works – 5Spd Manual

Recently supplied to a regular client, this rare car is the second one we’ve sold in a 6 week period.  Which considering how few of the 6.3 Widebody variants of the Virage were made, is quite remarkable.

These car had to be ‘modified’ after registration as Aston didn’t have type approval for the 6.3 concept.  So that’s £125,000 in 1990 for the standard 5.3 Virage, and then you’d send it back to have another £70,000+ spent on making into the car the Virage really should have been in the first place.  That’s an awful lot of lolly even now, but you can almost double it in real terms 30yrs down the road.  Which is why these cars are a potential investment for the future.  They were the forerunner for the Vantage V600, and as they are supercharged, don’t actually have the drivability of the normally aspirated 6.3.  Yes, the 6.3 ONLY has 455bhp, but it’s on tap from the get go.. and on the road it’s just as quick.  Considering the 6.3’s are around 25% of the Vantage prices, it’s a good place to pop a few shillings in our opinion. Last of the cars to be hand built and equipped with the V8 of this generation.  One to watch…..

This example was owned by Mick for 14 years.   You tend to find due to the price as mentioned earlier, that these cars were owned by some wealthy and interesting people, and this one was no exception.  Amongst the well-heeled custodians of this cars past story, was Eddie Shah.
Rikki Cann has been looking after this car of recent times and he fitted an MBE system last year to make mapping and setting up the engine easier.  This has transformed the car and made emissions much lower and more manageable, plus allowed more potential power to be gained from the engine
A wonderful 2 tonne British Bruiser.  It’s been a pleasure to help this one along the road to the current owner.
