1999 S Lotus Elise S1

Only 20,000 careful miles from new, by 3 owners. Finished in the ever popular Azure Blue, there can’t be many S1’s like this left. The previous owner has carried out a large upgrade of the engine, whilst trying to maintain as much originality as possible. He set out to find a Sport 135, but none of the cars he found were in good enough order to meet his high standards. He cam across this car, and decided he had to own it, and would create his own 135 Elise, and upgrade the engine as a whole, to improve mainly reliability, and also driveability.
In 2012, at 17,000 miles, the original cylinder head was reworked to KR1 Spec, by gas flowing and bigger valves, fire rings preened, harness tested and refaced. This was done by Sabre Heads. It received a X Power head gasket upgrade, including uprated oil ladder, and a new water pump. Original inlet manifold matched bored to the cylinder head, and deflashed also by Sabre Heads. Elise S2 6 bolt exhaust manifold and downpipe deflashed and flowed. PRRT thermostat upgrade. New Sachs clutch with stronger centre plate. Everything was also balanced by Vibration Free, including rods, pistons, crank, flywheel, clutch and pulley.
All of this work has lead to one of the nicest driving Elises we have come across, well upgraded, but still retaining all the Elise intimacy and delicacy. Matched with a car in this condition, with a fantastic history that comes with the car, surely this is the Elise to own. We have just carried out a service on the car, and a new MOT.
The condition of the car is as good as the pictures suggest. The interior like new, and the exterior is superb. Not covered in stone chips, a true delight. Viewing is highly recommended.
All paperwork and books are present, including the COC, original bill of sale, and every MOT, and a file of other invoices. A superb provenance.
